What Happens When Your Truth Costs You Connection?

I’ve known for a while that this might happen...

Last week, my Instagram account was permanently disabled. The account that I spent the last year cultivating community on, Tantra in Houston.

I lost writings & stories from my heart, connections with clients, and conversations with people who finally felt a sense of belonging, because of my work.

And yet… I wasn't surprised at all, and, oddly calm.

This isn’t new. Long before I was posting rain-drenched sensuality & sacred embodiment practices, I was getting flagged for talking about home birth, herbal medicine, navigating 2020 outside the lines and questioning systems that don’t serve us

Pretty much anything that suggested "I trust my body over bureaucracy."

But I didn’t start this work to be comfortable. I’m here to tell my truth. To create spaces, on and offline, where people can come back into connection with their bodies, their desire, and experience the divinity that lives within them.

Even if it's not socially acceptable.

The world has always punished those who speak the truth “too soon.”

There’s a long, potent lineage of people who’ve been vilified before they were ever revered. The ones who spoke up before it was safe. Who told the truth when it cost them everything.

Who were seen as heretics, radicals, witches, rebels, and troublemakers… until one day, culture caught up and realized they were prophets.

Socrates, Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Gandhi, Joan of Arc, Galileo, Witches that never made it into textbook history, Hell-- even Jesus.

Now, I know how this sounds. Comparing myself to these icons nearly had me scrapping this whole email because lol okay, God complex much? 🤣

These may be extreme comparisons, but each of these individuals were ridiculed, outcasted, threatened into submission & silence, some in extreme life or death situations.

But they were also courageous AF, willing to risk it all to have their voices heard, they rocked the boat, and are counter-cultural bad asses that changed the trajectory of our history, our culture, and of our healing.

The people they try to silence are the ones who carry necessary medicine.

If this resonates, If you've lost friends, been excluded, had your platform ripped away, or felt misunderstood. If your truth has ever cost you your belonging...

You’re not the problem, you’re the change this world needs more of.

I hope you continue to ask questions. Keep dancing, speaking out, striping down, and standing tall... ESPECIALLY when it ruffles feathers.

Keep it up, we're out here doing God's work 😘
