I am extremely discerning about the people I choose to work with inside spaces that involve power, sexuality, and surrender. I’ve experienced firsthand intimate spaces of sexuality held without reverence, kink taught without connection, and spirituality taught while demonizing the body… and it’s not pretty.

One of the methodologies that I’ve experienced the most variance in safety, presence, and depth is Shibari.

I have been tied by several professional Shibari artists and I have experienced two different types.

Some ties are skillful and aesthetic, beautiful and technically “perfect.” And yet, the internal experience can feel robotic, sterile, and void of emotional exchange.

The other type I’ve experienced, and my personal preference, is an emotional journey and energetic dance with intensity that brings out a stillness to the mind and a clarity of the soul.

These experiences brought me deep insight to my inner workings; where I was holding onto control, overriding my intuition, or being overly trusting. I moved through powerful emotions around being safe and held, and also saw where I was afraid of my own power and impact.

These lessons have drawn me towards teachers who recognize the divine intelligence of the body. Those who understand that when the body is met with presence, skill, and safety, it knows how to heal and unwind all that it has held onto without our need to intellectually understand. This belief shapes who I learn from, who I collaborate with, and who I bring into this community.

Rina Trevi is someone who teaches from a place of presence, integration, and trust in the body’s capability to heal and reorganize.

When I first met Rina I couldn’t help but feel safe, held, and accepted. As if there was nothing I could tell her that would make her look at me with anything other than deep understanding, reverence, and respect for my journey.

She weaves sacred sexuality & spirituality in such an embodied way that I can’t help but find myself inspired by her work.

This workshop merges Shibari with Tantric awareness, inviting you to explore the art of surrender, connection, and energy exchange.

Hold on… What IS Tantric Shibari?

Shibari is the Japanese art using rope bondage to foster mindfulness, deep relaxation, and emotional release.

By creating a "container" of safety and trust, it allows individuals to surrender control, process trauma, reduce anxiety, and reconnect with their bodies.

Bringing a Tantric perspective bring the intention of body-focus, presence, connection, and integration.

Agenda:

• Opening & Shibari Foundations: Arriving in presence, tuning into breath, and learning how to guide your partner into a receptive, conscious state. Includes the essential single-column tie.

• Elemental Demonstration & Guided Hands-On Practice: Rina will share step-by-step instructions, ideas, and examples for tying with each element. Each will be explored individually with guided hands-on practice.

• Improvisation & Playtime: Now it’s your turn! Experiment, explore, and find your unique voice within the elements through guided improvisation.

No prior rope experience is needed!

We provide all ropes and sensation play tools, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. You must bring a partner (rope bunny). If you don’t have one, reach out to us, and we’ll help match you with someone.

This approach to Shibari is inspired by my beloved teacher, Tati Limati, whose wisdom and artistry continue to deepen my own practice.
